We will meet at Hill Middle School on Friday, March 17 at 6:00PM SHARP.  Expect that we will return to Hill Middle School by 1:00PM on Sunday.

We will be camping at Camp Lowden in Oregon, IL.  We have the Frontiersman campsite. 

This will be a simulation of our time at Philmont. 

  • We will break camp Saturday morning, head over to Lowden State Park.
  • We will hike, practice with our dining fly, lighting the stoves, water purification, orienting a map, and may even set-up and break down our tents a couple of times.  
  • We’ll return to Camp Lowden for dinner and an evening campfire. 
  • Sunday morning, we will break camp and hike the Lowden-Miller State Forest.
  • Head home.

Your pack should include everything that you expect to bring on the trek.  Bring extra clothing and gear for the expected weather.  You won’t be expected to hike with this
